FLIGHT PLANNING, BRIEFING, & FILING

ForeFlight offers easy flight planning with options like Touch Planning on the Map or a full-featured form-based Flights view. You can quickly generate routes and assess their impact on weather or TFRs. Route, altitude, and procedure advisors are available to assist you in accurate flight planning. The app also allows you to generate graphical preflight briefings and file your flight plan directly from the app. A professional-grade Navlog can be printed for in-flight reference.

WEATHER

The app provides interactive weather layers including animated radar, global satellite and winds aloft, global icing, turbulence, and surface analysis. You can view decoded METARs, TAFs, and MOS forecasts. The Imagery view organizes a range of forecast tools for easy access.

PLATES, CHARTS, & MAPS

ForeFlight covers both VFR and IFR operations with a comprehensive set of aeronautical charts and maps. It includes data-driven Aeronautical Maps, VFR Sectionals, High/Low Enroute charts, SIDs, STARs, approach and taxi charts, as well as terrain, satellite, and street map views.

GEO-REFERENCED APPROACHES & TAXI CHARTS

The app supports geo-referencing of approach plates and taxi charts, allowing real-time display of GPS location on the chart. These charts can also be overlaid on the Maps view along with weather and hazards for improved situational awareness.

GLOBAL HAZARD AWARENESS TECHNOLOGY

ForeFlight offers top-down-view Hazard Advisor map layer, Terrain Profile View, and 3D Synthetic Vision that seamlessly integrate into the map display. This provides a clear depiction of terrain and obstacle hazards worldwide. When combined with an AHRS source, Synthetic Vision even serves as a backup attitude display.

LOGBOOK

The app includes a user-friendly logbook that simplifies the process of logging and sharing flights, tracking hours, reviewing currency, recording certificates and ratings, receiving electronic instructor endorsements, and creating experience reports.
